Overheard in London: feminism
October 31, 2010
I have decided to add a new thread to this blog: all the wonderful snatches of conversation that leak and drift and snake their way into the air of London.
Saturday October 30, 2010: A young black women explains feminism on the phone to a friend, on a 41 bus from Tottenham Hale: ‘It’s when someone says “You can’t do something”, or “You’re stupid”, and you think, oh, I’m bad; but really, they’re only saying it because of what you are…’ [Note to self: I can’t remember any casual public mention of feminism in many, many years. Is it coming back?]
